Village Market

Our Goals

A vibrant successful community supported local village market with products from Golden Bay.

How it Began

After travelling far and wide throughout both North and South Islands, Shirley Ford came home to the Bay determined that we must have a vibrant Village Market of our own! As a keen business woman she researched what made a truly great market by talking to people who have been doing it successfully for years.

Now, with two years worth of Saturday markets behind her, Shirley continues to hone in and encourage even more stall holders, preferably seeking more basic food vendors. Fees for individual stalls range from $6 for community organizations like the Golden Bay Environment Centre Trust and Joan Whiting Rest Home to $10 for basic vendors selling a variety of goods.

Wonderful local crafts and artists come regularly. Golden Bay is known for the quality of fine artists and crafts people. Bargains are to be had!

So if you're thinking of possibly having a go at a stall or simply coming down to browse to see a colourful slice of Golden Bay life, don't miss Saturday mornings in the carpark adjacent to the Village Green and in front of the construction for the new Takaka Library between 9AM and 1PM.

See you there!
