Golden Bay Branch of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society Inc. The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society (Inc) [Forest & Bird] is a registered incorporated society having a national membership of 38,000 with 53 branches throughout New Zealand.Local Golden Bay membership is 81 members with an additional 34 members in our junior organization, the Golden Bay Kiwi Conservation Club. Each member may include a whole family.
Forest and Bird is New Zealand’s largest national conservation organisation. Our mission is to preserve and protect the native plants and animals on land and within fresh water & marine environments, and the natural features of New Zealand. Forest & Bird has an interest that includes international, national, regional and local issues, insomuch as they impact upon the indigenous biodiversity, geological landforms and processes, and ecosystems of New Zealand. It is a grassroots organisation, with a branch in each part of New Zealand being very active on environmental issues that relate to their own area with professional support from the National Organisation.
